When guests visit Six Lakes, it doesn’t take them long to realize that this is a special place. For nearly 25 years, the careful development of the each lake, wetland area, and cabin structure has been a labor of love and dedication.

The Six Lakes area was not originally called Six Lakes. Until recently the area was known locally as Camp David. Developed over the last 25 years by local entrepreneur and contractor, Ned Mitchell, Camp David got its presidential name from Mr. Mitchell’s employees. Mr. Mitchell lived in a large white house in Altamont and he used the lakes and cabin at Six Lakes as his vacation retreat. His employees, who built most the lakes and structures, and other locals started to call his house “The White House” and consequently the retreat became “Camp David”.

The Nelson Family acquired Six Lakes in 2004, and since there was no longer a connection to the ‘white house’ the name was changed to better describe the dominant property attributes.

Since acquiring the property, careful consideration has been taken to preserve the natural beauty of the ‘high desert’ environment and wetland areas created by the lakes while developing better roads, camping areas, and a new guest cabin.

Today, Six Lakes provides some of the most unique recreation and lodging opportunities in all of Utah. After years of careful development, the lakes provide excellent fishing, canoeing and rowing, and wildlife viewing; and with the recent expansion of Big Sand Wash reservoir, guests at Six Lakes will be able to access the reservoir directly from our property.

The rustic Eagle Cabin, originally build by Mr. Mitchell and his family and recently remodeled, still provides great accommodations for any small group or family, and the brand-new Loon Cabin gives guests the option to stay at Six Lakes in real luxury. Either cabin site provides excellent access to our private lakes.

We invite you and your friends or family to come enjoy this one-of-a-kind place that has truly been labor of love, 25 years in the making.
