Winter has come to Six Lakes. The lakes at Six Lakes Resort and Fishing Preserve have frozen over and ice now covers all the lakes. There is a light dusting of snow over the landscape and snow is fluttering down from the sky and onto the icy lakes. It truly is a beautiful time of year at Six Lakes and there are tons of fun activities for families to enjoy during the winter months. In this blog we will share a few of our favorite activities for families to do during the winter at Six Lakes Resort and Fishing Preserve.
Ice fishing is one of the favorite activities for families during the winter months at Six Lakes. Families can walk out on the lake right from the cabins and be fishing within minutes of walking out of the cabin. Families can catch rainbow, brown, and tiger trout through the ice and we have had many families tell us that they have caught some of the biggest trout of their lives ice fishing at Six Lakes. Families can walk into their cabin and warm up by the fire or get some hot chocolate whenever they get cold. We have found that a 1.5- or 2-inch jig tipped with a worm is very effective when ice fishing at Six Lakes. Our favorite color for jigs while ice fishing at Six Lakes is white with a red or orange head.
Ice skating and sledding are also popular activities in the winter at Six Lakes. The lakes are often very smooth ice and are great for ice skating or sliding on the ice. Sledding is a great activity for children at Six Lakes. Parents can pull their children around on the ice or find a small hill near the cabin for their children to sled down.
During the cold winter months families love to soak in the hot tub and sit around the warm fire. It is a great time of year to soak cold muscles in the hot tub while sipping a hot drink. The large, in-ground hot tub on the back porch is perfect for soaking those cold muscles and relaxing while telling stories and catching up with family and friends.
We hope to see you this winter at Six Lakes for some ice fishing and soaking in the hot tub!
