The fall fishing at Six Lakes has been great this September and it will continue through October and into November. Fall is one of our favorite times of the year at Six Lakes due to the mild weather and the great fishing. In this blog we will share some of our favorite things about fall fishing in Utah.
Both the lakes at Six Lakes and the rivers around eastern Utah fish great in the fall. From September to the end of November the lakes at Six Lakes are at the proper temperature for trout to be active and feeding for most of the day making the fishing throughout the daytime hours really good. Fishing leech and woolly bugger patterns and midge patterns below a strike indicator are all great ways to catch fish. In September and early October fishing with hopper and flying ant patterns can also be very effective. The rivers and streams around Six Lakes also fish very well this time of year and guests often spend one day out fishing the beautiful streams and rivers in this area.
One of our favorite things about fall is the bird hunting season begins September 15th. During the bird hunting season guests can drive down to the Pleasant Valley Hunting Preserve and hunt pheasants for the morning. This is a great tradition to do with your family and many of the families that stay at Six Lakes during the fall months love to spend a morning down at Pleasant Valley Hunting Preserve watching the dogs search the fields for birds and practicing their shotgun shooting on the clay pigeon course.
The weather is beautiful during the fall months. The afternoons are mild and are great for being out fishing, kayaking on the lakes, mountain biking, hiking, and playing around the lakes with your family. The cool evenings are perfect for soaking in the hot tub, sitting around the campfire, and enjoying time with your family talking or playing games. It is about the best weather of the year and the fall colors on the trees make the scenery spectacular both on the property and along the streams and rivers in the area.
The next couple of months are going to be some of the best fishing and weather of the year at Six Lakes. We hope to see you and your family this fall!
