In this blog, we will share some of our favorite outdoor activities to enjoy at Six Lakes Resort and Fishing Preserve with your family during the holidays.

Fishing is a great year-round outdoor recreation activity at Six Lakes Resort. The fishing is amazing any time of the year. The fall months are some of the best fishing of the year as the fish actively feed most of the day and fatten up for the winter months. In the middle of December the ice starts to form on the lakes and ice fishing starts. Late December and January is a great time to be at Six Lakes and ice fish with your family. Families can ice fish on the many lakes at Six Lakes during the day catching large trout and enjoying the beautiful views around the Six Lakes Fishing Preserve and at night soak in the hot tub and relax by the fire.

From September to March many families enjoy bird hunting just south of Six Lakes at Pleasant Valley Hunting Preserve. Families love to watch hunting dogs search for pheasants and chukar among the wheat and cattails and the thrill of a pheasant exploding from the thick cover into the air and flying over their head. It is a great family activity for families that love the outdoors, and the holiday season from November to January is the perfect time of year to experience the thrill of bird hunting with your family. Families can hunt from 9 am to noon at Pleasant Valley Hunting Preserve just 20 minutes south of Six Lakes Resort. It is a great opportunity to make lifetime hunting memories with your family.

Families with children will love Six Lakes during the holiday season due to the amazing outdoor recreation and fun at Six Lakes Resort. Children love to play in the large in-ground hot tub after fishing and playing outside. In December and January children love to play on the ice and ice skate. It is a great time of year to see deer and other animals around the Six Lakes Preserve and for children to enjoy playing in the snow and on the ice. The fall and winter hunting and fishing season is a great time of year to introduce children to bird hunting and fishing.
